On Saturday January 22nd, 2005 our mother had surgery for esophagus cancer.
It was a radical surgery, and her only option.
It involved removing the esophagus and moving the stomach up and reattaching it.

The Surgery went well and by Monday she was alert, able to scribble notes and used hand gestures to communicate.
We thought that she would be coming home in the 2 week time frame the doctors said was the norm for this surgery.

This was not to be.
By day 4 Mom developed minor complications that kept compounding.
Infections, breathing difficulties and leakage at the point where they connected her stomach to what was left of her esophagus.  She continued to fight but 7 weeks later she lost that battle and passed on to join her brother and parents in the after life.

We are presenting a tribute to our mother.
May she be remembered forever!
