Kate was born Lillian Katherine Bischof at Cottage Hospital in Grosse Point Farms, MI  on June 12th, 1937 to Katherine and Karl Bischof, Yugoslavian immigrants of German decent.
In 1940 her parents gave her a brother, Karl.  They were best buddies all through their lives. She graduated in 1955 from East Detroit High School and in 1956 married Bill Arnold.  In September 1957, her first son, David was born,  followed by Mark in December 1959. Then on June 13th the day after her Birthday she gave herself a present. A daughter she named Kathy.
In the 60's, she & Bill ran a TV sales and repair shop in East Detroit "Arnold's TV".  It was located across the street on Gratiot from the City Hall.
They sold Admiral and Motorola televisions. Sales incentives from these enabled Kate and Bill to travel on trips to Spain, Mexico, and cruises.  They were on the go!

In 1969 they decided to try something different.  With their friends Larry and Evelyn they bought a rundown campground in Michigan's UP a few miles from Tahquamenon Falls and refurbished it.  They named it Timber Trails.  For a couple of years thing were good but friction developed between the partners and Kate and Bill sold out their interest.  By the mid 70's the struggle to maintain the TV store was too much. Bill took a job with Heathkit and Kate started doing the neighborhood basement sale. (the precursor to her Estate Sale business)
Around the same time, they also bought and renovated a house built in the 1920's on Toepher  in East Detroit, moving from the house on Camden her father had built in the early 1950's.

By 1980 Bill and Kate had grown apart and divorced. Kate, legally known as Lillian Arnold, changed it to L. Katharine Arnold
Kate to her friends!

Her Estate Sale Business thrived!  She conducted a sale in Marine City that was a 4 acre junk yard/antique shop in 1986 - the "Sale of the Century" as everyone called it and in 1988 she had a sale in Detroit that was most likely her finest hour.   Found at this house in the walls, was $71,000 in Cash not to mention the jewels, and gold found under the attic floorboards.

In 1998 she moved from the Toepher house to a condominium at Woodbridge Estates in St. Clair Shores.  She had found her element! She made many new lifelong friends and enjoyed the many social gatherings that went on in the complex.  She took on the duties of writing the Condo Associations newsletter and in 1999 started selling on eBay. One of her greatest joys were seeing the merchandise she put up for auction go through the roof.

In 2000 her son David started her Estate Sale website where people could see photos of merchandise and get maps to the sales. She continued conducting sales, selling on eBay and enjoying the company of her many friends until her untimely passing.
